The question "which format is better for archiving?" is usually mistaken for a question about quality. It is not.
PNG and TIFF are both lossless. Both store pixel data without altering it, neither accumulates degradation when opened and saved repeatedly, and both are open, well-documented standards. There is no meaningful difference between them in terms of the risk of becoming unreadable in the future.
